Arlberger Winter Climbing Route

The St. Anton Winter climbing trail is at Rendl, 850 m long. It is considered one of the most beautiful winter climbs in Tyrol. A magnificent opportunity for climbers who do not want to let winter get in the way of their hobby.

The climbing trail, which is suitable for those of average fitness, is equipped with a steel cable. About 20 per cent must be climbed directly on rock, the rest of the trail is normal walking. It's hard going for anyone making a path on the trail right after a new snowfall. But you are walking on snow cornices much of the time, so you do not always sink half a metre into the snow. In any case, the effort is worthwhile. At the end of the trail, magnificent ski runs await you. It is recommended to tour with guides from the local ski schools.

Access: Take the Rendlbahn lift, then onto slope no. 4 to the base station of the Riffelbahn I lift. Take the Riffelbahn I and II lifts to the mountain station (2,645 m Riffelscharte peak). The entrance to the winter climbing trail is located behind the lift house and is marked with a signpost.

Descent: From the end of the trail down to Roßfallscharte. From there it's either east through the Malfontal valley or west through the Roßfallwinkel.

ATTENTION

Travelling on Riffelbahn I & II lifts is only allowed with winter sports equipment (skis, snowboards, etc. - pedestrians cannot be transported in this lift!) at a price of 19.50 €.

Remark: Very difficult climbing trail, Alpine experience necessary. We recommend a guided tour by one of the ski schools in St. Anton am Arlberg.
